We are pleased to announce the plans for 2021 House League Season with some temporary changes to our playing rules that have now been adopted by the CMBA Board to ensure Baseball Ontario Return to Play Protocols are being followed, along with Provincial / Regional / Municipal guidelines and protocols. The establishment of Hygiene Standards and Social Distancing were the some of the biggest aspects that had to be considered for the upcoming season.

Each division will be split into 2 separate Bubbles with no more then 4 teams per bubble. We have had to make the tough decision of lowering our numbers of players for each teams to assist with complying with the new rules and regulations that we must follow.

The season is scheduled to start the week of July 12^th and will close out the week of September 13^th. The 1^st week of the season will be scheduled as a practice to meet the coaching staff, teammates and receive uniforms followed by a Practice week and then into games.

The following rules will be implemented across all divisions for the 2021 Season;

▪ Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with your hands

▪ Sneeze and/or cough in a tissue or the internal crease of the elbow. Avoid contact of hands with personal respiratory points.

▪ All potentially infected waste (i.e. disposable tissues, masks, protective gloves, etc.), hygiene material, debris, etc., in all shared spaces (diamonds, dugouts, washrooms, etc.) that cannot be transported off property, shall be disposed of safely at the end of the in-person baseball activity.

 ▪ Ensure physical distance from participants and between spectators

 ▪ Spectators are encouraged to bring their own chairs for personal use or bring disinfectant wipes to clean the area where they sit. Municipalities and/or facility owners may or may not be cleaning bleachers on a regular basis.

▪ Limit the number of non-participants attending (limit siblings, parents, extended family, friends, etc.). As long as the maximum number of persons permitted to gather by the Province of Ontario and the relevant municipality and public health authority is less than or equal to 100, the maximum number of non-participants attending any event is limited to 1 per player. Such spectators shall physically distance themselves from other spectators and participants and bleachers are off limits.

▪ Sharing of equipment such as batting helmets, catchers’ masks, or other equipment likely to have been exposed to respiratory droplets MUST be avoided. Each player should have his/her own helmet, baseball mitt(s), batting gloves,  etc. and store these items inside their personal bag when not in use.

  • PPE / Mask are encouraged to be worn at the discretion of the participant while playing but is strongly encouraged to wear while arriving at the diamond,

 • No sharing of catcher's masks in warming up pitchers. If no catcher's mask is readily available, warm up pitches may be thrown to a player/coach.

▪ At no point can any baseball event exceed the number of attendees (including players, coaches, umpires, association officials, volunteers, parents and other family members) noted as the maximum number by the Province of Ontario, or any relevant municipality or public health authority.

We have had to make the tough decision of lowering our number of players on teams. The following is an outline of each division that will apply for this season;

▪ Please note that if the Province of Ontario and/or municipalities or public health authorities establish different guidelines / policies or regulations further changes may need to be introduced to continue the season.

- A middle infield position will be permitted.

9U

- The Catcher position will be eliminated for this season

- Pitcher is to be 12ft behind Pitching machine.

11U

- Maximum of 2 catchers per team, per game. Unless players have own catching gear.  (No sharing of helmets)

13U – 18U

- Maximum of 2 catchers per team, per game. Unless players have own catching gear.  (No sharing of helmets)

- No lead offs are permitted but stealing is allowed after Pitcher releases ball.
